Calvin Cairns Called Family Fiddle Dance

Saturday, July 30 – 12 noon  – 1 pm at the Farm

Come dance with your family and neighbours at the farm. We have moved this popular Festival event to the daytime so that more kids can come out and participate before bedtime strikes. No dance experience necessary. All ages welcome.

The dance will be led by fiddler extraordinaire, Calvin Cairns. Calvin has toured extensively, as a solo musician and with various bands and theatre companies, in Russia, Europe, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, the USA, and from coast to coast across Canada.

He fiddled his way from Moose Jaw to Moscow with the Canadian folk music institution Stringband, including performances in Belarus, Boston and Baker Lake. Calvin’s wildly popular band, The Romaniacs was a non-stop tongue-in-cheek polka party, performing their brand of ethno-fusion at every major folk music festival in Canada. His latest project, The Celtic Fringe, is an exciting blend of Celtic and Gypsy traditions. Calvin’s love of music and teaching takes him to festivals and fiddling workshops regularly. He now lives in Victoria, BC.
