Once again on Tuesday, the short- and medium-term future of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has been the topic of conversation around the NFL world as he is set to become a free agent at the end of this season and could sign with whomever he wishes in 2023.

Along with this topic, there has also been much talk about the future of head coach Sean Payton, who this past offseason announced the end of an era by taking at least a one-year sabbatical after 15 highly successful seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Tom Brady and Sean Payton already have history together

Brady’s future has already been linked to Payton’s future in the past, especially prior to what was ultimately Drew Brees‘ final year with the Saints (2020) in which it was rumored that, if the Super Bowl XLIV MVP decided not to return, New Orleans could pursue the QB who would then no longer be with the New England Patriots.

The Miami Dolphins were even punished by the NFL for reportedly pursuing Brady and Payton under contract during the offseason, known as tampering. That plan didn’t come to fruition either.

Will Brady and Payton meet in New Orleans?

Now, according to a report from Pro Football Talk, the worst-kept secret in the NFL is that Payton and Brady are planning to reunite and that one option would be to do so with the New Orleans Saints.

The thesis of this whole plan is that the Saints would have no problem getting rid of Dennis Allen, their current head coach to give the job back to the best strategist in their history and that in the package, Brady would play at 46 years old in the “Jazz City”. In addition, the Saints only have Jameis Winston under contract for next season, who is easily disposable.
