Charles Leclerc was the fastest driver on day one of running in Austin, with the Monegasque driver topping the timesheets of the extended second practice session.

Lengthened from 60 to 90 minutes for Pirelli’s prototype 2023 tyre test, Leclerc was one of three drivers – along with Daniel Ricciardo and Valtteri Bottas – allowed to run their own tailored programmes in FP2, after the trio sat out FP1 so that their teams could run rookie drivers.
