Beyond her myriad serving woes and eventual summer renaissance at the US Open, this week alone has seen Sabalenka score a tremendous victory over No. 2 seed Ons Jabeur and endure a tough loss to Maria Sakkari—with one match against Jessica Pegula still to come.
All of that excitement has made the US Open semifinalist want to take it easy on her off days, eschewing the enthusiastic sight-seeing done by players like Barbora Krejcikova.
“To be honest I just try to sleep for a little bit longer, eat some good food and just rest,” she said of her monastic pre-match prep. “I mean, I really, I really wanted to go out somewhere like to learn something about Texas but don’t have any energy for that. Just trying to save my energy for the matches.
“But probably after this is through I’ll go see what Texas is.”
Hopefully that, too, is captured on the Netflix cameras!
