It’s almost time for the World Cup to start and, as is the case every time this tournament comes around, there will be some new music associated with the competition.
FIFA always release at least one official World Cup song and they are going to put out a few songs for the Qatar competition.
Specifically, there are four official songs of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and they are outlined in more detail below.
World Cup song 1: ‘Hayya Hayya’
The first track was released in April and is called ‘Hayya Hayya’, which means ‘Better together’.
It is performed by Cardona, Davido and Aisha, while the video features images of Zinedine Zidane, Cafu, Edinson Cavani, Cristiano Ronaldo and other football stars.
“By bringing together voices from the Americas, Africa and the Middle East, this song symbolises how music – and football – can unite the world,” FIFA’s chief commercial officer Kay Madati said.
World Cup song 2: ‘Arhbo’
There are various genres in the FIFA World Cup soundtrack and that includes rap, with Gims and Ozuna having produced ‘Arhbo’, a song that means ‘Welcome’.
In the video for this World Cup song, you can see the stadiums that will be hosting the matches this November and December.
World Cup song 3: ‘The World is Yours to Take’
The third song has a title in English, which is ‘The World is Yours to Take’, and it is performed by Lil Baby.
It features sounds from the famous Tears for Fears song ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’.
World Cup song 4: ‘Light the Sky’
The fourth track also has an English title, in this case ‘Light the Sky’.
It is performed by four influential female singer-songwriters from the Arab world, namely Balqees, Nora Fatehi, Manal and Rahma Riad.
As with the other tracks, its lyrics speak of the world all wanting to come together.
