The New York Giants are one of the surprise teams in the NFL, their 6-2 record while enjoying their bye week has all Big Blue fans excited, however, that doesn’t mean everyone in this organization is catching a break, especially in the front office, as this team’s roster continues to have serious deficiencies, especially at the wide receiver position.
The Giants’ actions to sign Odell Beckham Jr.
It has been reported that the Giants were looking for different receiver options before the NFL Trade Deadline, however, they failed to finalize any deal with another team, so now, the only option to strengthen the position in through free agency, the best option is an old acquaintance, Odell Beckham Jr. who was selected in the 2014 Draft by New York with the 12th overall pick in the first round and was in this organization until 2018.
With that background, current Giants General Manager Joe Schoen acknowledged on Tiki and Tierney that they have officially reached out to representatives of the Super Bowl LVI champion with the Los Angeles Rams.
“We’re gonna do our due diligence all the time and he’s a guy that we’ve, you know, we’ve reached out to his representatives, we’re in contact with his representatives, where he is in his rehab, what he’s projected to be, whether it’s four weeks from now or five weeks in terms of his health, when he’s gonna be available again,” Schoen said.
Why does Odell Beckham Jr. still have no NFL team?
It is worth remembering that the famous OBJ tore his ACL in the first half of the NFL Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals in a season that started with the Cleveland Browns, but after several problems with quarterback Baker Mayfield, he was traded to the Rams where he was finally able to win his first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
