Alycia Parks caught the attention of the tennis world in early October when she reached the first WTA quarterfinal of her career in Ostrava, scoring her first two Top 20 wins en route against a No. 19-ranked Karolina Pliskova and No. 7-ranked Maria Sakkari.
Now, the 21-year-old is showing that was just the beginning.
Over the last three weeks Parks has caught fire once again, following up a semifinal showing at the $80,000 ITF Women’s Circuit event in Valencia, Spain with back-to-back WTA 125K title runs in Andorra la Vella, Andorra and Angers, France.
She even picked up her third Top 30 win along the way, beating No. 25-ranked Zhang Shuai in the first round in Angers.
Parks went into the three-week stretch at No. 150, rose to No. 134 after Valencia, No. 100 after Andorra and now No. 75 after Angers.
No. 150 to No. 75—cutting it in exactly half—in three weeks.
“I think I was more tired today, but I wanted this title so I had to get into the match, and have the energy to go for it,” Parks told WTATennis.com after her 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Anna-Lena Friedsam in the final in Angers on Sunday. “I’m going to take some rest before Australia. It’s good to end the season with a title.”
She was scheduled to play the final WTA 125K of the year in Limoges, France this week, but withdrew with a change of schedule.
