After years of defamations, lawsuits, accusations and legal fights, the battle between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp has come to an end. The lawyers of both parties have reached an agreement by which the interpreter must pay one million dollars to her ex-husband.

“I never chose to do this,” acknowledges Amber Heard, who claims that her life “has been shattered by defamation on social media.”

They reached a settlement today regarding the claims they both made to each other for defamation in one of the most talked about and controversial divorces in recent years in Hollywood.

The defense of both met and reached this agreement, so Amber Heard’s insurance company will pay the star of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ one million dollars to end the legal battle.

The first sentence dictated a 10 million payment

The amount to be paid by Amber Heard is a victory as far as it goes. In addition, the actress has no impediment on what she says in the future in relation to the case, as reported by the Mail Online.

The litigation between the two lasted six years, after she denounced Depp for being a victim of domestic violence during the brief period of their marriage. A London court ruled in favor of the actress, but the jury of Fairfax (Virginia, United States), gave the reason to the actor.

Initially, Amber Heard had to pay $10 million to Johnny Depp in compensatory damages and $5 million more, but later reduced to $365,000, for punitive damages. On the other hand, Johnny Depp was sentenced by the same jury to pay 2 million dollars to the Australian performer.

Amber looking forward to moving on

The actress filed a third appeal to this ruling by the Virginia jury and the legal team of both met to agree on the final payment of one million euros. A source close to the performer told the media quoted above that “Amber is looking forward to moving on with her life as she planned six years ago”.

Amber Heard posted three photos on Instagram announcing this agreement, but did not hide her frustration.

The actress acknowledged that she had “lost all hope of getting justice” in the American justice system, comparing it to that of the United Kingdom. On the other hand, she accused her ex-husband of winning because the system is “in favor of popularity and power over reason and due process”.
