Second-year quarterback Sam Ehlinger has been named the Colts’ starter over veteran Matt Ryan for the remainder of the regular season, head coach Frank Reich announced Monday.

Reich also announced Ryan has a shoulder injury that will keep him out for some time, and he will be out for Week 8 against Washington. Regardless of Ryan’s injury, Reich added that the plan going forward is for Ehlinger to be the team’s starting quarterback.

“Right now the move is for Sam to be the starter for the rest of the season,” Reich said, per the team.

Around The NFL will have more on the Colts’ significant change at QB shortly.
