The Los Angeles Lakers fell to 0-3 after losing to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena as LeBron James was visibly annoyed with the team’s mediocre performances.
James, 37, led his side in scoring with 31 points on 12-for-22 shooting from the field and 2-for-9 from beyond the arc.
He added eight rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks, but he was far from the best Lakers player.
Anthony Davis was a menace on the defensive end, recording six blocks and two steals to go with 22 points and 10 boards.
Davis, 29, missed all three of his shot attempts from deep, a theme that plagues the entire Lakers roster, which went 6-for-33 from three.
LeBron James misses game-tying shot
Russell Westbrook scored 10 points on 4-for-15 shooting from the floor, adding six dimes and six rebounds.
Westbrook, 33, had the opportunity to wind down the game clock with just over 20 seconds left to play and a one-point Laker lead, but instead missed a jumpshot with 18 ticks left on the shot clock.
Damian Lillard, who scored 41 points for a second consecutive game, would go on to hit a huge triple before James retaliated with a dunk to tie the contest.
Jerami Grant regained the lead for Portland with just a few seconds left in the game and James went on to miss the shot that would have forced overtime.
King James quickly walked back into the tunnel, dabbing up a few teammates and fans, but wearing a long face.
LeBron James annoyed of teammates
James looked annoyed from the opening quarter as the Blazers took an eight-point lead into the second frame.
After Lakers debutant Troy Brown failed to catch a bullet pass by James, the King rolled his eyes in disappointment.
The 37-year-old then airballed a logo triple with plenty of time left on the shot clock.
Lakers are going to have a long season if James doesn’t snap out of his atrocious body language that will only bleed over to his team.
The Purple & Gold will visit the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday in search of their first win of the season, while the Trail Blazers take on Nikola Jokic and company on Monday for the tail end of a back-to-back.
