For most of the Western world, curtsy is an outdated tradition that no longer takes place in the world. However, the Royal Family still has to do it in order to salute their king of queen. It happened for more than seven decades with Queen Elizabeth II, it is also happening now with King Charles III. But the entire ritual seems slightly absurd in this day and age. Since Meghan Markle is part of the people because she didn’t grow up in the Royal Family, she clarly also thinks it’s absurd. But her husband doesn’t seem overly impressed by her mockery.
In the Netflix docuseries, Meghan Markle clearly mocks curtsy with a long and paused attempt at it. Prince Harry wasn’t too impressed by her skit, he’ll be even angrier when he sees Meghan actually has perfect curtsy form. Twitter quickly rescued an old clip where her character in the ‘Suits’ series does a perfect one. She doesn’t lean forward like she did on the interview, she maintains her composure as she moves down a bit. Royal Family simpathizers quickly pointed out at the hipocrisy.
Queen Elizabeth II didn’t seem to mind Meghan Markle’s courtsy
when she was still alive, Queen Elizabeth II for a couple of Meghan Markle curtsy attempts and she didn’t seem to mind. It is likely the queen herself knows this isn’t a common pratice anymore. But the reaction from Twitter users’ comments against Meghan suggest she was also disrespecting the queen every single time she attempted a curtsy. The rest of the world doesn’t mind stating the obvious with a courtsy but the Royal Family doesn’t find it amusing.
Before people think this is an attack against Meghan Markle, her actions in this case are the ones doing all the talking. She clearly wasn’t taking the whole concept seriously when talking about in the docuseries. Her husband really wasn’t pleased at it happenedand now this video resurfaces. The so-called critics hardly needed to say anothing else that Meghan Markle didn’t cover with her curtsy demonstration. Attacks against her are unacceptable though, that must never happen.
