For the director and star of the movie‘Creed III’, Michael B. Jordan, Mexican boxing is very important in the history of the sport and has not been well represented.
Therefore, he highlights and pays tribute to Mexican boxing culture in the film, which will be released in March 2023.
‘Creed III’ is a new chapter in the Rocky saga, but it will be the first in which Sylvester Stallone, who in previous films used to hire old boxers, does not appear. But for Jordan, Mexican boxing has not been represented as it should on the big screen.

‘Creed II’I will see Canelo Alvarez’s acting debut
During a press conference to promote the film, Jordan said what was the reason for hiring Canelo Alvarez in what will be the latter’s first acting job. The debuting filmmaker commented:
“We just looked back, you know, it’s the history of boxing, and the Mexican culture is such a pillar within the sport of boxing and felt like there wasn’t really a lot of representation throughout the films in that type of way. And it just didn’t seem like the reality I lived in. So I wanted to incorporate Mexican culture into this film,” Jordan said. “I just felt that there was a lack there, that didn’t seem truthful and honest to the sport of boxing. And I wanted to kind of put that character there.”
