Kyrgios withdrew from the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo two weeks ago with a knee problem, saying it was the “smart” choice given he still had two more tournaments—Basel and the Paris Masters—on his schedule.

But the 27-year-old Australian has now withdrawn from Basel and also Bercy, where he would have been competing for the first time in his career. That removes him from contention for a spot in the ATP Finals singles field, though he and compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis could qualify for the doubles event. The Aussie pairing is currently in the seventh spot in the Race, having won the Australian Open doubles title.

Kyrgios has not released any statement regarding his withdrawals, or whether he still plans to play in doubles at the ATP Finals should he qualify. He reached the final of Wimbledon, but did not receive any ranking points following the ATP Tour’s dispute with the Grand Slam event about its ban Russian and Belarusian players.
