Tennis dominated this year’s most-searched athletes on Google, with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams holding the top three global spots and Carlos Alcaraz also among the Top 10 names.
The sport’s top players were also frequently among their country’s most popular searches, according to the company’s annual Year In Search report. Serena was the No. 10 top search in the United States, while Nadal and Alcaraz respectively landed No. 4 and No. 6 among the top searches in Spain. Ashleigh Barty ranked No. 8 in Australia, and Dominic Thiem was No. 5 for Austrian searches.
In Switzerland, Djokovic was the fourth top search, while Roger Federer was No. 1 and Martina Hingis No. 5 among people from the country.
Djokovic was also among the most searched people in Germany (No. 5) and Italy (No. 6), with Boris Becker also ranking at No. 4 in Germany and Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini coming in at No. 4 and No. 6 in Italy, respectively. In Norway, Casper Ruud was the second most-searched athlete during a season in which he became its most successful tennis player.
Tennis players also made up five of the Top 10 most-searched Aussies in Australia, and Thiem was the top Austrian searched for in Austria.
