Tickets for the 2022 World Series began to be sold last Monday, but the resale has already made its appearance and sent the price sky high.
Tickets for the Minute Maid and Citizens Bank stadiums where the World Series games between the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies will be played are going through the roof.
This Monday for the October 31 game in Philadelphia, infield tickets are being offered at $39,775.
At the moment they are the most expensive tickets being offered to see World Series games.
The cheapest ticket on SeatGeek for Game 3, the Phillies’ first home game of the series, is $1,349 with fees.
But “Home Run” prices are also being recorded in Houston, where two tickets in Diamond Club B seat 8 are being offered for $25,535 each.
The cheapest tickets, for now, are being offered in the Standig Room of the Minute Maid, one of the highest floors of the sports center for an individual value of $517.
World Series tickets in high demand
“We’ve seen tremendous demand from baseball fans during the playoffs – this year’s ALCS and NLCS saw 36 percent higher ticket sales per game on StubHub than the 2021 Championship Series,” read a statement by Adam Budelli, spokesperson for StubHub.
“Excitement is already strong for the World Series, especially in Philadelphia, where pent-up demand for the Phillies’ first championship appearance since 2009 is reflected in what we are seeing fans are willing to pay compared to the games in Houston.”
These astronomical prices are the second highest in MLB World Series history, behind only the Chicago Cubs in 2016.
